Coordinate Reference Systems used in Italy
Italy's current datum is RDN2008 (EPSG:6706) realised on ETRS89, with UTM zones 32N (EPSG:6707) and 33N (EPSG:6708) the standard projections. Legacy mapping uses Roma 1940 / Gauss-Boaga (EPSG:3003 zone 1, EPSG:3004 zone 2) on the Roma 1940 datum and Monte Mario / Italy zones. ISTAT, IGM and the regional cadastres are migrating to RDN2008 / UTM under the European INSPIRE directive.
