About EPSG:2180

EPSG:2180 is PL-1992, also known as PUWG 1992 — a Transverse Mercator projection on the GRS 80 ellipsoid (ETRF2000-PL datum) with central meridian 19°E, latitude of origin 0°, scale 0.9993, false easting 500,000 m and false northing −5,300,000 m. Despite Poland straddling roughly 14°E to 24°E it is fitted into a single zone with manageable distortion, simplifying nationwide datasets.

For higher-precision cadastral work Poland additionally uses four PL-2000 zones (EPSG:2176-2179) at 3° intervals (15°E, 18°E, 21°E, 24°E). Both systems are maintained by the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK).

Common use cases
