About EPSG:5514

EPSG:5514 is S-JTSK (Datum of Uniform Trigonometric Cadastral Network) projected via the Krovak East-North double-stereographic conic projection — a unique projection designed by Czech geodesist Josef Křovák in 1922 specifically for the territory of former Czechoslovakia. It minimises distortion across the elongated NE-SW shape of the country.

The Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (ČÚZK) and the Slovak Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority publish all official mapping in S-JTSK / Krovak. EPSG:5513 is the older "South-West" axis-order variant; EPSG:5514 (East-North) is the modern preference for GIS workflows.

Common use cases

  • Czech and Slovak cadastre
  • Public administration GIS in CZ/SK
  • Topographic mapping by ČÚZK and ÚGKK SR
