Official EPSG transformations from TM75 to WGS 84

The EPSG Geodetic Parameter Dataset defines 3 transformations between TM75 (EPSG:4300) and WGS 84 (EPSG:4326). Each applies to a specific area — pick the one whose area of use covers your data.

TM75 to WGS 84 (2)

EPSG:1954±1 mBest accuracy
Method:
Position Vector transformation (geog2D domain)
Area of use:
Europe - Ireland (Republic and Ulster) - onshore
Scope:
(null/copy) Approximation for medium and low accuracy applications assuming equality between plate-fixed static and earth-fixed dynamic CRSs, ignoring static/dynamic CRS differences.
ParameterValueUnit
X-axis translation(tx)482.5metre
Y-axis translation(ty)-130.6metre
Z-axis translation(tz)564.6metre
X-axis rotation(rx)-1.042arc-second
Y-axis rotation(ry)-0.214arc-second
Z-axis rotation(rz)-0.631arc-second
Scale difference(ds)8.15parts per million

Parameter values taken from TM65 to ETRS89 (2) (code 1953). Assumes ETRS89 and WGS 84 can be considered the same to within the accuracy of the transformation.

TM75 to WGS 84 (4)

EPSG:6947±1 m
Method:
NTv2
Area of use:
Europe - Ireland (Republic and Ulster) - onshore
Scope:
(null/copy) Approximation for medium and low accuracy applications assuming equality between plate-fixed static and earth-fixed dynamic CRSs, ignoring static/dynamic CRS differences.

Grid file: tm75_etrs89.gsb

Parameter values taken from TM75 to ETRS89 (3) (tfm code 6946) assuming that ETRS89 is coincident with WGS 84 within the accuracy of the tfm. Within accuracy of the tfm equivalent to TM75 to WGS 84 (1) (tfm code 1042).

TM75 to WGS 84 (3)

EPSG:1956±6 m
Method:
Geocentric translations (geog2D domain)
Area of use:
Europe - Ireland (Republic and Ulster) - onshore
Scope:
Military survey.
ParameterValueUnit
X-axis translation(tx)506metre
Y-axis translation(ty)-122metre
Z-axis translation(tz)611metre

Derived at 7 stations. Accuracy 3m in each axis. TM75 is based on the geodetic datum of 1965 which should not be confused with the mapping adjustment of 1965 (TM65).

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is converting TM75 to WGS 84?
The most accurate official EPSG transformation between these systems is accurate to about ±1 m within its stated area of use. Browser-based converters approximate datum shifts with Helmert parameters; for surveying-grade work apply the official transformation (including the grid-shift files listed below) in a desktop GIS.
Does my data leave the browser when I use this converter?
No. All coordinate transformations are computed locally in your browser using proj4js. The coordinates you enter are never transmitted to any server.
