Online coordinate converter from WGS 84 (EPSG:4326) to WGS 84 / Antarctic Polar Stereographic (EPSG:3031). Enter your source coordinates and get the result instantly. All transformations happen in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
Converting from WGS 84 (EPSG:4326) to Antarctic Polar Stereographic (EPSG:3031) is the standard projection for almost every map of Antarctica — the Antarctic Digital Database, BAS, USGS Antarctic Resource, and ice-sheet research datasets.
The projection is true at 71°S, central meridian 0°E. It is conformal, preserving local angles and shape, but distorts area at the periphery. For area-based analysis prefer EPSG:9354 (LAEA Antarctic) or EPSG:6932 (EASE-Grid 2.0 South).
The same transformation with common GIS tools and libraries:
from pyproj import Transformer
transformer = Transformer.from_crs("EPSG:4326", "EPSG:3031", always_xy=True)
x, y = transformer.transform(-73.9857, 40.7484)
