Official EPSG transformations from RD/83 to ETRS89

The EPSG Geodetic Parameter Dataset defines 2 transformations between RD/83 (EPSG:4745) and ETRS89 (EPSG:4258). Each applies to a specific area — pick the one whose area of use covers your data.

RD/83 to ETRS89 (2)

EPSG:6948±0.03 mBest accuracy
Method:
NTv2
Area of use:
Germany - Saxony
Scope:
Cadastre.

Grid file: NTv2_SN.gsb

Recommended by Saxony State Spatial Data and Land Survey Corporation for transformations based on official geospatial data of Saxony. Accuracy 3mm within Saxony; within the rest of RD/83 definition area results at least coincide with EPSG CT code15868.

Method:
Position Vector transformation (geog2D domain)
Area of use:
Germany - Saxony
Scope:
Transformation of coordinates at 1m level of accuracy.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is converting RD/83 to ETRS89?
The most accurate official EPSG transformation between these systems is accurate to about ±0.03 m within its stated area of use. Browser-based converters approximate datum shifts with Helmert parameters; for surveying-grade work apply the official transformation (including the grid-shift files listed below) in a desktop GIS.
Does my data leave the browser when I use this converter?
No. All coordinate transformations are computed locally in your browser using proj4js. The coordinates you enter are never transmitted to any server.
