Official EPSG transformation from NAD83(CSRS)v6 to NAD83(CSRS)v6

The EPSG Geodetic Parameter Dataset defines 1 transformation between NAD83(CSRS)v6 (EPSG:8251) and NAD83(CSRS)v6 (EPSG:8251). Its parameters, accuracy and area of use are listed below.

Canada velocity grid v6

EPSG:8676±0.01 m
Method:
Point motion (geog3D domain) using NEU velocity grid (NTv2_Vel)
Area of use:
Canada - onshore south of 60°N
Scope:
Change of coordinate epoch in 3-dimensions (φλh).

Grid file: NAD83v6VG.gvb

File initially published as cvg60.cvb, later renamed to NAD83v6VG.gvb with no change of content. Not recommended for height transformation north of 60°N due to inaccuracies in the vertical component of the model. Replaced by Canada velocity grid v7. Although the interpolation CRS is given as NAD83(CSRS)v6 (also known as NAD83(CSRS) 2010), any version of NAD83(CSRS) may be used for grid interpolation without significant error.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is converting NAD83(CSRS)v6 to NAD83(CSRS)v6?
The most accurate official EPSG transformation between these systems is accurate to about ±0.01 m within its stated area of use. Browser-based converters approximate datum shifts with Helmert parameters; for surveying-grade work apply the official transformation (including the grid-shift files listed below) in a desktop GIS.
Does my data leave the browser when I use this converter?
No. All coordinate transformations are computed locally in your browser using proj4js. The coordinates you enter are never transmitted to any server.
