Coordinate Reference Systems used in United States

The United States uses the North American Datum 1983 (NAD83) — code EPSG:4269 — for nearly all federal mapping. The most recent realisation is NAD83(2011), EPSG:6318. Pre-1986 records use the legacy NAD27 datum, EPSG:4267. The Conterminous USA Albers Equal Area projection (EPSG:5070) is the standard for nationwide thematic maps and analysis. Each state has its own State Plane Coordinate System zone (in feet or metres) used for cadastral and engineering work.
